The dust tightness tests are performed to different components to
evaluate the IP degree of protection, in the Dust Chambers.
MIL-STD-810 test
method in its method 510.4, set the test parameters to assess any mechanical,
optical, electrical, electronic, electromechanical and electrochemical element
which may be exposed during use or storage in dusty atmospheres or sand.
This standard
establishes two parts:
• Small
particles of dust (˂149 microns) to assess the system's resistance to dust
against obstructions, cracks, etc.
• Blowing
sand (150-850 microns) to evaluate the systems and determine whether the
material can be stored and operated under conditions of blowing sand without
degrading performance.
