CP-442e, DUST TEST CHAMBER, SPECIAL DESIGN

The standard IEC-60529 for degrees of protection against access to against solid foreign objects, dust tests (IP code), establishes that when carrying out the test it must be taken into account that the sample must be placed inside the chamber with enough space to allow the movement of the dust around the sample during the test, but of course, not all samples are the same, nor do they have the same size and weight. That is why from Dycometal we offer custom designed chambers, chambers that have an interior volume suitable for the different sample sizes that the customer will have.

Like the CP-442e, a chamber configured to comply with the IEC-60529 standard (IP5X or IP6X grade), with interior measurements designed with the customer for their samples.

TIGHTNESS TEST CHAMBERS, PROTECTION STANDARDS AGAINST EXTERNAL AGENTS

The standards for protection against external agents (dust or rain) provide information on the degree of protection of electronic enclosures against the introduction of external elements, such as LED lights in vehicles. For this purpose, each manufacturer has its own standard, but it is always based on a general standard such as IEC 60529. 

Within this standard, Dycometal manufactures different chamber volumes to adapt to any customer’s needs, such as the CP-512 chamber with dimensions of 800 x 800 x 800 mm, which allows to carry out dust tightness tests for medium to large sized samples. Also available in the Arizona test version.

PRODUCT BULLETIN: CP-2500, Dust Test Chamber for Airbags


The airbags, are one of the most important safety elements within the automotive sector, thanks to them many lives are saved. But to arrive at a product that guarantees the safety of the driver, this equipment must be subjected to the strictest environmental tests. One of these tests to be carried out is the dust resistance, where it will be ensured that the airbags have an adequate sealing against the entry to the dust particles, degree of IP protection.

The thermal test chamber, CP-2500e, has enough space to carry out the leak test for several airbags at the same time in parallel. The chamber is configurable in its parameters to be able to modify the control according to the regulations to be tested. The chamber is prepared for various tests from different manufacturers, so that a single chamber can be used by multiple manufacturers.

MIL-STD-810 Method 510.4, Dust and Sand Test

The dust tightness tests are performed to different components to evaluate the IP degree of protection, in the  Dust Chambers.

MIL-STD-810 test method in its method 510.4, set the test parameters to assess any mechanical, optical, electrical, electronic, electromechanical and electrochemical element which may be exposed during use or storage in dusty atmospheres or sand.

This standard establishes two parts:

 •  Small particles of dust (˂149 microns) to assess the system's resistance to dust against obstructions, cracks, etc. 

 •    Blowing sand (150-850 microns) to evaluate the systems and determine whether the material can be stored and operated under conditions of blowing sand without degrading performance.

DRIVE-IN chambers

Climatic test reproduce the climatic conditions in temperature and humidity, to which the equipment or materials will be subjected during operation, transport or storage.

When we have to test samples with big dimensions and big weight, like complete vehicle; it’s not posible to test these samples in a estándar chamber. It is necessary to use modular climatic chambers like DRIVE-IN chambers.

DRIVE-IN chambers are a modification of the Walk-in chambers, where the customer can test cars, bus, trucks or also trains.

These chambers can simulate any kind of environmental conditions: temperatura, humidity, solar radiation, salt spray, dust, rain,…
