Aging accelerated in plastic parts: RADIATION

Currently, plastic parts make up most of the things that surround us: cars, computers, etc. These pieces have been of different quality controls, non-metallic materials. There are many types of plastic, but a difference among them is the time of degradation to which they are subject from its manufacture.

One of the factors affecting the degradation is the solar radiation: ultraviolet (UV), visible and infrared (IR); still it UV which most affects the molecular structure of the plastic, accelerating the process of degradation. UV light, accelerated aging chambers allow the simulation of the conditions that the plastic will face during its life, at a certain temperature and under conditions of UV radiation.
