DID YOU KNOW THAT DYCOMETAL HAS BEEN MANUFACTURING BATTERY CHAMBERS FOR OVER 20 YEARS?

At DYCOMETAL, we have been designing and manufacturing specialized battery testing chambers for over two decades, back when many manufacturers were still not considering the real safety requirements of these types of applications.

Our experience has allowed us to develop systems with added safety features and solutions adapted to the risks associated with battery testing, especially in demanding sectors such as automotive, electric mobility, electronics, and energy storage.

OUR SOLUTION (2016): A CETM-70/1000, a 1000-liter thermal testing chamber. This reinforced unit is designed to test masses exceeding 250 kg, with a temperature gradient of 1°C/min between +120°C and -20°C, taking into account the mass and heat dissipation within the system. The system was built taking into account EUCAR risks, incorporating high safety standards such as an overpressure evacuation system, electromagnetic lock, gas meters, etc. All of this is designed to guarantee maximum safety and reliability.

Because when it comes to battery testing, experience and safety are not optional.

CV INDUSTRIAL ULTRA-FREEZERS FOR BATTERY TESTING AT NEGATIVE TEMPERATURES

Ultra-low temperature testing allows for the validation of battery performance even under the most extreme operating conditions, analyzing their charge and discharge capacity, stability, efficiency, and safety, even in environments where performance is typically compromised. These tests enable the anticipation of failures, optimize design, and ensure that each battery responds reliably, autonomously, and safely, even when the temperature drops to the limit.

DYCOMETAL's CV series industrial ultra-freezers can reach temperatures as low as -75°C. Their vertical design allows for the placement of small or large sample sizes, thanks to reinforced shelves and a floor. Furthermore, the freezer can be adapted to any safety level to minimize risks. Its flexible configuration allows for redesigning the standard system in terms of interior dimensions according to the customer's needs.

ACR-40/660, CHEST FREEZER FOR VEHICLE BATTERIES TESTING

Freezing tests allow for the reproduction of negative temperatures, verifying the behavior, safety, and performance of batteries under intense cold conditions. This enables the evaluation of critical aspects such as starting capacity, material stability, and system reliability in harsh climates. These thermal tests can be carried out in an industrial forced-air chest freezer, such as those manufactured by DYCOMETAL, designed to reproduce extreme negative temperature conditions.

Like our DYCOMETAL ACR-40/660 chest freezer, with a temperature range down to -40潞C for a weight of 700 kg. Its reinforced floor allows for ergonomic battery placement, and its chest configuration accommodates both small and large batteries. Its simple control allows you to ensure the temperature and its additional recorder system allows you to record 4 temperature probes in addition to the equipment's own control probe in order to analyze the data in the associated software.

CLIMATIC TESTING OF BATTERIES: TECHNOLOGY AND SAFETY FOR A MORE RELIABLE ENERGY FUTURE

Today, batteries are a key component in strategic sectors such as electric mobility, renewable energy storage, consumer electronics, and aerospace. Their development not only demands high storage capacity and efficiency but also reliable and safe behavior under extreme conditions. This is where climatic testing plays a crucial role.

At DYCOMETAL, we have extensive experience in designing and manufacturing advanced climatic chambers for battery testing, both in R&D and validation processes. These chambers simulate demanding environments that replicate the real-world conditions batteries may be exposed to throughout their service life.

What is evaluated in climatic battery testing?

Climatic tests expose batteries to controlled variations in temperature, humidity, and pressure with the aim of:

• Analyzing thermal behavior under extremely cold or hot conditions.
• Accelerating aging processes to detect premature failures or material degradation.
• Verifying stability under repeated thermal cycles or intermittent usage.
• Assessing the response to overcharges, pressure changes, and other external stress factors.

These tests are essential for ensuring the safety, durability, and efficiency of the final product, especially in critical applications where a failure could have serious consequences.

Active safety in battery testing

When testing batteries, especially lithium-based ones, it is essential to implement active safety measures to protect both the operator and the laboratory environment.

Our battery testing chambers include a comprehensive set of safety systems that comply with the industry’s highest standards:

• Overpressure relief valves, to release gases in case of abnormal pressure build-up.
• Flammable and toxic gas detectors, for quick response to unexpected emissions.
• Forced air extraction systems, to ensure proper ventilation and avoid gas accumulation.
• Fire-resistant and sealed chamber designs, to limit the spread in the event of fire or thermal runaway.

We also integrate remote monitoring systems, smart alarms, and emergency stop protocols to maximize process control.

Technology serving innovation

At DYCOMETAL, we are committed to robust engineering tailored to each customer’s specific needs. Our climatic chambers can be customized in volume, temperature range, temperature change rate, humidity levels, and safety components, allowing testing at the cell, module, or complete battery pack level.

The energy transition requires reliable solutions from the ground up — and in battery development, that begins with precise simulation of the most demanding scenarios.

We remain committed to quality, safety, and innovation to support our technology partners in building a more sustainable future.
