An automotive lighting manufacturer with more than five DYCOMETAL environmental test chambers in its quality control laboratory needed additional equipment similar to what it already had installed.
 
The required conditions were:

OUR SOLUTION: The climate test chamber previously supplied to this client, the CCK-70/1000T-6, has been updated with a new totem display with an operating status light and a new mechanical locking system with a security key. The client has already tested and verified the system's performance and results. This high-performance heating and cooling unit allows for the most demanding climate tests to be performed on vehicle lighting.

Our client, a major manufacturer of electronics for telecommunications satellites, already had 7 AFA-100/768 ovens, but due to increased production, they needed to expand the number of environmental tests under controlled temperature conditions, ensuring proper functioning during component development.
 
The conditions they were looking for were similar to the previous ones:

In addition, there are several penetrations for inserting extra sensors to position over the samples. All of this is controlled by a programmable system with a 7” touchscreen for performing cyclic tests, thanks to the extraction system that lowers the temperature inside the test chamber without the need for a separate refrigeration unit.

AFA-20/1600, FORCED AIR CIRCULATION OVEN FOR LOAD CELL TESTING.

 Continuing with environmental testing of load cells, it's important to remember that these are electronic components and therefore must also undergo burn-in processes to verify infant mortality in electronics. For this purpose, the number of samples to be tested should be as large as possible, taking into account the different sizes the samples may have.

Our AFA-200/1600 high-temperature laboratory oven has been designed for the introduction of carts carrying a large number of samples for testing. Its 1600 mm interior height allows for easy cart entry thanks to rails embedded in the floor, eliminating the need for a ramp. Its width and depth (1000 x 1000 mm) ensure the simultaneous introduction of different sample sizes. The system is complemented by an advanced microprocessor that allows heating and cooling cycles, thanks to its turbine system, all remotely controlled by the control and recording software.

Load cells are sensors designed to measure force or weight and are fundamental in applications such as industrial scales, onboard weighing systems, process control, and lifting platforms. Thermal testing plays a fundamental role in ensuring that components used in aeronautical programs can withstand extreme temperature variations throughout their lifecycle. AFA-200/2500, FORCED AIR HEATING OVEN FOR COSMETIC TESTING.

In the cosmetics industry, quality is not just a matter of texture or fragrance; it's a matter of stability and safety. Before a product reaches the shelf, it must demonstrate its ability to withstand everything from an intense summer to transoceanic transport. To achieve this, it's necessary to evaluate the behavior of its formulas through: Accelerated Stability Tests, Thermal Cycling (Thermal Shock), or Storage Tests.

That's why our client requested a special oven, a DYCOMETAL oven. With a volume of 2500 liters, specially adapted to accommodate large batches of samples in vertical trolleys, the oven has a vertical volume with a usable interior height of 2 meters. Furthermore, the floor features a flush-mounted rail system to allow trolleys to be inserted without the need for a ramp. The control system allows for the implementation of cooling programs using the air renewal system and an alarm system to notify when the test has finished. The control and recording software allows for the storage of tests for each batch via Ethernet communication.

CETM-25/300T, THERMAL TEST CHAMBER FOR SEMICONDUCTOR TESTING.

CCK-40/1000T-3, CLIMATE CHAMBER FOR TESTING ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS IN THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY

 In the automotive sector, the quality and durability of interior components must be guaranteed even when the vehicle is exposed to extreme environmental conditions. Therefore, all elements located in the passenger compartment—such as trim, electronic modules, panels, plastics, or decorative elements—must undergo tests that reproduce the most severe climatic agents in order to evaluate their stability, resistance, and long-term performance. 

Among the most widely used procedures are the VW PV 1200 and VW PV 2005-A standards, which establish accelerated climate stress cycles designed to intensively simulate abrupt changes in temperature and humidity, as well as prolonged exposure to critical environments. These cycles include phases in which the water content in the air must be kept strictly limited, requiring very precise climate control to ensure the reproducibility and reliability of the test.

CETMB-30/4570T, temperature test chamber for isothermal packaging

CCK-30/300Tg, climatic chamber for carbonation and freeze-thaw tests for building materials

 Numerous environmental tests exist to verify the resistance of construction materials to different climatic conditions. One fairly common test is the freeze-thaw test, where the sample is exposed to freezing and thawing conditions (in air or water) to guarantee the material’s durability.

Other more specific tests for steel-reinforced materials include carbonation tests, which involve accelerated corrosion testing by injecting CO2 into the samples under controlled climatic conditions.

CETM-0/100T-UV, thermal test chamber for accelerated aging tests with UV LED light

Exposure to UV light is responsible for various molecular and genetic changes in both materials and living cells. Sunlight reaching the Earth contains UV rays with different wavelengths: UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C, although the latter are blocked by the ozone layer.

Accelerated aging tests with UV LEDs are used in various markets, such as the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, photonics, and medical industries, to simulate an accelerated solar emission spectrum. This allows for the evaluation of the behavior and response of different types of materials to solar radiation.

Our CETM-0/100T-UV chamber has been designed and adapted to perform UV radiation tests in a thermally controlled environment for most UV applications: bonding, polymerization, drying, curing, and photolithography. The system features a 100-liter capacity test chamber made of polished stainless steel with an internal finish. The roof of the test chamber has an opening with a filter to allow for the placement of an external UV radiation source. All of this is controlled by a touchscreen control system and recording and control software.

Climatic chambers for compliance with MIL-STD 810 method 521.4 icing/freezing rain

Ice formation can be one of the causes that can hinder the performance and durability of a material. This formation can affect moving parts, increase risks to personnel, cause structural failure, and more. Method 521.4 of MIL-STD 810 is used to evaluate the effect of ice on materials and systems, simulating their performance during operation when exposed to ice formation from rain, drizzle, fog, splashes, or other sources.

Climatic chamber with solar simulator for testing in accordance with MIL-STD method 505.7

Method 505.7 of MIL-STD 810 is used to evaluate material that may be exposed to solar radiation during its service life. This method evaluates the effects of direct exposure to sunlight and aims to determine the heating effects of solar radiation on the material and identify the photodegradation effects of exposure to solar radiation. Exposure to solar radiation can also cause expansion and contraction of materials, generating serious stresses and loss of structural integrity, among other defects.

DYCOMETAL’s CCK/CETM series climatic chambers can be modified to comply with test method 505.7 of MIL-STD 810, among other standards.
