 Sometimes our customers of external climatic conditioning systems (thermal or climatic generators) want to be able to change the test box (test enclosure) in order to be able to adapt to other types of test rigs or new samples. This is often the case in the aerospace industry, where different specimen sizes have to be tested under extreme conditions.

Our client was looking for a very versatile drawer to be combined with a new test bench, so it was completely custom-made, starting with the interior measurements: 750 x 800 x 1500 mm (Height x Width x Depth). The drawer had two doors on the wide side of the chamber for easy access to the samples, with the test stopping when the doors were opened. Both doors had tempered glass. Interior light allowed viewing of test specimens.

But what really made this test enclosure special was the removable floor made of special resin and machined in several parts to adapt the drawer as required.

This is one of the advantages of an external climatic generator, the need not to be limited to a single test enclosure.

 Within the mechanical tests there are servo-hydraulic equipments to perform static and dynamic tests such as: tension, fatigue, durability, etc. And in order to simulate the best conditions in which the sample will be found, this type of tests must be combined with temperature controlled tests.

The CET-40/38e test heat generator has been designed to provide precise thermal control in a wide range of testing applications. With exceptional heat generation capability, this device is capable of temperatures from -40 °C to 100 °C, making it suitable for a wide variety of applications.

The 38-liter test enclosure has been designed exclusively to be combined with the servo-hydraulic system, adapting perfectly to the existing space between columns. Its internal dimensions: 290 mm x 440 mm x 300 mm (Height x Width x Depth), have been calculated to test different sizes of parts.

EXTERNAL CONDITIONING UNITS

External climatic conditioning units or climatic generators are independent and movable units which allow acclimatisation of external enclosures under temperature and humidity conditions by connecting insulated hoses which supply air to an insulated enclosure positioned at a distance.

The climatic conditions shall be monitored in the external test enclosure by means of probes positioned internally or in the supply/return hoses.

TEMPERATURE TEST CHAMBER FOR AMMUNITION FIELD TESTS. MODEL, CCK-70/125

Within the quality control of armament ammunition, there are various types of environmental tests: thermal, climatic, solar radiation, corrosion, etc., with thermal tests being one of the most common. During these tests, the parts are subjected to both positive and negative temperatures, and this test has to be carried out both in the laboratory and in real field tests, where the sample is tempered before being used under the indicated conditions. In order to temper the samples, it must be possible to take the chamber to the field.

The thermal test chamber model CETM-70/125 has been developed to maintain a good ergonomics, positioning the control in the upper part of the chamber and the cooling group in the lower part, as well as vibration absorption systems for the transport of the equipment in a comfortable way in a lorry. In addition, the chamber has a temperature range from -70ºC to +150ºC, which allows it to cover all the thermal tests required by customers.

CLIMATIC TEST CHAMBER TO COMBINE WITH TENSILE MACHINES , MODEL: CCK-25/85e.

The tensile tests of the materials or samples consist of subjecting a standardized sample to an increasing axial tensile stress until its rupture occurs. This test measures the resistance of a material to a static or slowly applied force. In some cases, the test standards establish that these tests must be carried out under controlled conditions of temperature and humidity. The chamber must be prepared to be able to introduce the jaws so that the sample is inside the workspace itself to be acclimatized.

There are many types and manufacturers of traction machines, so the dimensions of the chambers will be different and will have to be tailored, analysing the space between the columns of the traction machine.

The CCK-25/85e chamber has been manufactured to fit perfectly with a specific traction machine. The oblong pass-walls allow the insertion of the climatic chamber in an easy and simple way. The team also has two sight glasses on the front and side to perform video-extensiometric measurements. The cold group integrated in the chamber itself allows the chamber to be easily installed in the test bench very quickly.

In a vehicle there are different components that suffer wear due to the continuous movement to which they are subjected over time. This type of components must be tested in the quality laboratory beforehand for a certain number of hours, so that its correct operation can be guaranteed throughout its useful life. In addition, they must be subjected to the changes in temperature and humidity that they will suffer, so the piece and the test bench must be introduced into a climatic chamber that simulates the temperature and humidity conditions.

The CCK-40/3600e 2P chamber has been designed in accordance with customer specifications to be able to introduce the different elements of the hydraulic test bench through the front wall, to simulate temperature and humidity conditions. The different front access-ports allow the actuators to pass, and the double door on the sides allows greater ergonomics of access to each element inside the chamber.

TEMPERATURE TEST CHAMBER FOR STARTER MOTORS, MODEL: CETM-70/490e 2P

The starter motors of a vehicle are one of the most important components. It is necessary to perform its validation under the most extreme temperature conditions, to verify that they work correctly under the worst situations. For this, a test bench is developed where the starter motor must be subjected to different extreme temperatures, both in positive and negative temperatures, to verify the correct functioning of the equipment. These types of tests will be carried out in climatic chambers or thermal test. In the same test bench several starter motors will be tested in parallel, to take advantage of the space of the chamber, taking into account the energy that will be generated inside the chamber and that will have to be dissipated.

The thermal test chamber, CETM-70/490e 2P is a chamber developed to combine with the customer's test bench, with different ports positioned at a specified position on both sides of the chamber. The cold group of the chamber has been calculated to dissipate the energy generated by the starter during the test, complying with the profile indicated by the customer. The chamber control system allows communicating with the control of the test bench so that there is synchronization between them.
